Sarajevo
Set against the war in Sarajevo, this is a story of three friends; Mirela, Aleksander and Slobo, bound by childhood, separated by war, torn by belief, fear, and duty. Through them, we witness how easily a friend becomes a stranger and how unspeakably hard it is to unmake that distance. When Peter, a foreign photographer better known for his shots of brothels than battlefields, stumbles into their lives, the line between observer and participant begins to blur. This play asks you to come closer, to hold your breath in silence and in that shared silence, to remember our shared humanity.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. It is a moving story and told very well by the performers. Dishing out the contrasts between delicate & gruesome, love and betrayal - there's no time to lose focus here. Flowing from love between friends to the love for the land and everything in between - these actors had a grip on my breath. It is such an amazing show. It really deserves to be seen by all of SA and the world. Relevant themes considering the times we live in. Such brilliant acting as well. The story was absolutely captivating, told in a pace that had us swaying from laughing one moment and gasping in the next. The acting prevented the suspense of disbelief in the first act but improved significantly by the third act. The subject matter was handled with the same cold viciousness as the war that is portrayed. Overall it was a hard hitting, and thoroughly thought provoking yet entertaining experience.
