I AM - One of many
Time is running out. Father’s dementia is stealing his past, her heritage, and their shared identity. As his memories fade, so do her connections to her roots. This pilot episode is the 1st offering in this modular series, exploring what happens when a displaced community, across generations, is threatened by the erasure of history. It asks: when you’ve left everything behind for the promise of something better, and the ‘something better’ isn’t ‘better’, what next? When you have nothing but memories and memory is fading, what do you have?

There are not many times when I am genuinely moved by a performer and storyteller who taps into the emotions of loss, displacement and identity. Glad to have experienced your show. Look forward to seeing more. - Nina Brt — ★★★★★ (5/5) — August 22, 2025
Lula’s voice opens an endless fractal, carrying the audience across shifting geographical and emotional landscapes, from the Horn of Africa to the UK. Though deeply rooted in her Habesha identity, Lula’s stories extend far beyond the personal. Weaving her mother tongue, Tigrinya, into English, she evokes universal themes — dementia, belonging, tenderness and separation, dispersal and loss. An ancestral energy, rooted in her Eritrean heritage, pulses through her performance, tempered by a rare tenderness and strength that speaks to anyone who has ever longed, remembered, or searched for home. - Rhiannon Ledwell — ★★★★★ (5/5) — August 21, 2025

Lula’s show did more than move me – it touched me, changed me, and shaped me. Its not just a story about dementia, memory, or heritage, it is a visceral reminder of how fragile identity becomes when the threads of the past begin to unravel. As her father’s memories fade, we watch a whole lineage tremble on the edge of erasure. Lula places us inside that loss with such raw honesty that it feels both deeply personal and universally urgent. - Ron Brown — ★★★★★ (5/5) — August 16, 2025

Lula is a mesmerising storyteller and a truly singular artist. I saw I AM - A Walking Universe last year and had to come back to see I AM - One of many, many of One. I cannot recommend seeing both shows enough. - Amanda Ghosh — ★★★★★ (5/5) — August 12, 2025

When I say the future of storytelling, trust and believe there isn't an ounce of exageration. The most innovative show on the fringe circuit, there's nothing out there quite like it. Using wearable tech to weave music, lighting and imagery to tell a story so deeply personal but universally resonate. Can't recommend this enough! - Kerri Brown-Wooster — ★★★★★ (5/5) — August 8, 2025
