Beautiful mash-up of music, storytelling, and historical education, not only about Bob Marley and his last global impact but of Jamaican and Caribbean history and where reggae music comes from. Last night I had the pleasure of attending @~Duane Forrest: Bob Marley’s How Reggae Changed the World,” and it was an unforgettable experience. Duane’s mash-up renditions of classic reggae songs not only showcased the rich history of the Caribbean but also highlighted how deeply Bob Marley’s music has influenced generations worldwide. Hearing Duane, a Jamaican man from Toronto, share his personal connection to Marley’s lyrics was truly moving. His passion and authenticity resonated with me and many other POC audience members, creating a sense of unity in the room. The way he invited everyone to sing along made the experience even more engaging and communal. Duane’s storytelling, combined with the powerful melodies of reggae, created an atmosphere of celebration and reflection. I left feeling inspired and connected to both the music and the shared journey of our cultures. This performance is a must-see for anyone who appreciates reggae, music history, or simply a heartfelt connection through art. HighlY recommend!
